Having shared turntables with icons like Dj Premier, Just Blaze, Stretch Armstrong, J-Rocc and Large Professor to name few; DJ Monster was in need of a digital presence that was up to par with his skill and as a professional via his brand.

After quite an intuitive discussion with DJ Monster, I took note of him constantly mentioning that he sets a vibe, which is what he really wanted to portray in his website. This really resonated with me which I will elaborate further in just a bit.
After a competitive analysis of other DJ sites, it was safe to assume a DJ's website would include info about him and most of all his music, as well as the venues he has performed in and of course a form of contact and social links. An insight I gathered that really stood out to me was that all other DJ websites showed content, but it did not ooze any type of vibe, which is what a DJ ultimately creates - a vibe. Instead they were websites that simply displayed information about them and their music/mixes. That is all. No emotion. This is why its of utmost importance to fully undestand the business & brand aspect of it as well as the message you want to portray and intended audience.
With that said, we delved deeper into what DJ Monster's services would encompass.

Creating a VIBE. Not just a website.
The purpose of this website was not only to present a DJ and his work, but to also present a vibe. Which is ultimately what a DJ creates. Therefore, we went with a clean and minimal, yet lush and sexy aesthetic. To accomplish this, we used rich colors and animations triggered by micro-interactions. Such animiations included, the changing of background color depending on content presented, so as to get a feel of the content about to unfold which would then match that mood we set with each background color selected, as well as content.
